To take full advantage of our backyard greenhouses, add-ons are available for an additional cost and based on the size of your greenhouse of choice.
Although the weather stays fairly mild in Western North Carolina, winter weather can still drop below the optimum growing temperatures, even for frost-hardy vegetables such as spinach, greens, and root vegetables. To keep your family fed with fresh produce year-round, we recommend a heater so there’s no limit to your growing season!
Southern Summers are something else. Sweltering temperatures in the Carolinas can be wonderful for hot weather varieties such as tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants, but extreme heat and humidity can still stress the plants enough to make them unproductive or contribute to a variety of fungal diseases and infections.
That’s why we recommend an air-conditioning system to keep your garden comfortable and disease free! (It may help you feel better too when you're tending to your garden in high summer!)
Lighting is crucial to flowering plants. For many fruits and vegetables, flowers must be set and fertilized in order to produce fruit. If your greenhouse is in a shaded area, or unusual weather patterns such as excessive rain or dreary days occur, this can affect the growth of your plants by stunting them, causing them to get too “leggy” while reaching for the sun, or making them unproductive.
Locally made in Hendersonville, we offer grow lights to help combat these common growing issues related to lack of enough light. Not only will your plants thank you for it, but you’ll be supporting local businesses and agriculture as well should you choose to add Commercial GE Grow Lights to your greenhouse!
Are you worried about the energy consumption required to keep your greenhouse in shape? Don’t be! We offer Controller add-ons that offer the ability to conserve energy and include advanced settings to limit that energy use as needed. Maybe the day is particularly sunny and warm and you don’t need your grow lights on that day, or only on 50% power instead of 75% or 100%, perhaps it’s a mild autumn day where you don’t need your heater on. Controllers can help you limit energy use and consumption, which is better for the planet, AND your pocketbook.
The benefits of irrigation are truly endless. Irrigation is a great option to manage water practices and prevent a plethora of possible issues for your plants such as root rot, fungal and pest infections, and more. Even better, when it’s automated, your plants will get the water they need when they need it. And you don’t have to worry about a thing! So go ahead and take that vacation; your new greenhouse is in good hands.
